We apparently hit 7.9 Billion world population in mid-October 2021.
At 330 Million U.S. population, the USA is only 4.1% of world population - always seems like we’re more. But then math.
Also thought there’d be more than 4.9 million worldwide covid deaths since 2019, out of 7.9 billion; out of 105.5 million worldwide all cause deaths (58.8 million all cause deaths in 2020, plus 46.7 million 2021 so far). Since 2019, over 100 million have died worldwide of other causes.
Malthusianism is the idea that population growth is potentially exponential while the growth of the food supply or other resources is linear, which eventually reduces living standards to the point of triggering a population die off.
These concepts derive from the political and economic thought of the Reverend Thomas Robert Malthus, as laid out in his 1798 writings, An Essay on the Principle of Population.
