Mattias Desmet on Mass Formation and Modern Society

Remarkable Conversation with Tucker Carlson

If you have seen previous interviews, this one is well worth watching - this one covered some other aspects of his Psychology of Totalitarianism1 book that may not have been brought out in other interviews, as well as some other perspectives that Tucker drew out in the interview.

Some comments2 from others regarding the interview:

  • Thank you, Tucker and Mattias, for this great conversation. Desmet's book is great, very readable and it shines such a bright light on everything we've seen since the start of Covid. Very important stuff.

  • A rewarding and interesting interview that I recommend everyone invest 60 minutes in! It not only explains the incomprehensible developments in the world in recent years, but also provides deeper insights into human behavior that can be very valuable knowledge for everyone.

  • The beauty of the process of waking up is that it can't be reversed. Once you question the narrative, you start questioning all past and future narratives that you formerly and blindly belived in. Truth is beauty. Like Hannah Arendt3 similarly phrased it: If you teach someone to think critically, he/she will never be as compliant and obedient as before. Not because of a rebellious mind or spirit, but because of developing the habit to question everything when in doubt and gaining courage to speak out if something goes against our incorruptible values and newly formed integrity.

  • Incredibly articulate explanation of what has and is still going on. The last 15 mins blew me away.

  • Mattias Desmet: Come for the political commentary, stay for the poetic metaphysical rant.
